MK Dons players helped local school children Show Racism The Red Card at stadiummk on Wednesday.

After a hugely successful event at the National Hockey Stadium last year, the campaign rolled into the Dons' new home for the first time to raise awareness amongst young people and to encourage them to take action against it.

Dons players Drissa Diallo, Paul Mitchell, Sam Collins and Stephane Koffi were joined by experienced goalkeeping coach Paul Heald to sign autographs and pose for photos with over 250 youngsters from primary schools all over Milton Keynes.

The players were then joined by chairman Pete Winkelman, representatives from Show Racism The Red Card and John Brockwell from MK Dons Supporters Association to form an expert panel.

The panel fielded questions about experiences of racism both in football and in life, with the players sharing some memories from their careers.

Defender Diallo said: "I experienced racist abuse when I played in Belgium for Mechelen, but fortunately since I have played in England people have a much better attitude.

"Thanks to campaigns like this one people are now more aware of the problem than they used to be and if you experience it you can tell someone and something can be done about it."

Pete Winkelman added: "The club is wholeheartedly behind the campaign as we look to completely wipe out this problem from football and the wider community.

"The message is loud and clear, that racist behaviour cannot be tolerated and must be shown the red card."
