Paul Ince hailed his awesome MK Dons after they booked a place in League 1 next season with a magnificent win at Stockport.

Ince's away-day specialists picked up their 17th win on their travels this season after twice coming from behind to end the Hatters' 10-game unbeaten run.

Quick-fire responses from Mark Wright and Alan Navarro cancelled out Stockport goals from Liam Dickinson and Adam Proudlock, before Keith Andrews' sensational chip won it for the men from MK.

And while the Dons manager will allow his team a night of celebration after clinching their automatic spot, he says they'll be firmly focused on the three points they need to clinch the League 2 title come Monday.

He said: "I've said the lads it was a fantastic performance.

"The lads were awesome - to go a goal down twice and come back like we did just shows you what this team's all about.

"To pick up the three points here today and get promoted is a fantastic achievement so we'll enjoy tonight, but the real party will be if we win the title.

"It was a fantastic game, it had everything. People say there's no entertainment in the lower leagues but if they'd seen that game today there were tackles flying in, goals, missed chances and Jim Gannon running down the line trying to hit one of my players!"

Ince was referring to an unsavoury incident after Andrews' winner, when County boss Gannon raced down the touchline to confront Lloyd Dyer.

It was an incredible moment in the game and one Ince felt Gannon would regret with retrospect, but the Dons boss hardly gave it a thought.

He said: "I think he said something to Lloyd Dyer about them having the best left winger in League 2, Lloyd said something back and it kind of went off from there but I know how frustrations can run high.

"They're trying to chase Hereford in third place and it was just as big a game for them as it was for us. But sometimes you have to show a bit of composure and running down the line like that is probably not how a manager should behave.

"But I don't give a monkey's. All I'm concerned about is that we got three points and we got promoted."

Ince went on to salute his Captain Fantastic after Andrews played through the pain barrier to score his 14th goal of the season and guide his team to victory.

He said: "I asked Keith for his leadership because I knew it would be a really tough game today and he was important to me.

"He wasn't even going to play, he had a problem with his foot, but he wanted to be out there and he was unbelievable.

"It was the best I've seen him play under the circumstances and to finish it with that chip sums up the man.

"The whole team was awesome, Sean made some fantastic headers and blocks in our area and Willy made an unbelievable save just after the third goal.

"They'll be out in Manchester having a few beers tonight but they'll be back in Monday focusing on what we really want, which is the title."
