Aaron Wilbraham scored twice as MK Dons returned to the top of League 2 and within three points of automatic promotion.
Paul Ince's men proved just too ruthless for struggling Wrexham, putting Brian Little's strugglers to the sword despite never reaching optimum performance levels.
While Wilbraham produced the true finishing of a deadly marksman, central defensive pair Danny Swailes and Sean O'Hanlon also got in on the act - both converting Dean Lewington set pieces.
In truth, the scoreline was a little harsh on Wrexham, who did more than make life difficult for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy winners on their homecoming following their Wembley win 10 days ago.
Seemingly left in the dust after Swailes and Wilbraham struck inside 10 minutes, Little's men responded admirably and had genuine hope when Neil Roberts converted a penalty on the hour after being fouled by Carl Regan.
But the Dons just don't seem in the mood to drop points at present, as their march towards a league and cup double gathers pace.

Dean Lewington takes on Stuart Nicholson. |
Ince's team now sit two points clear of second-placed Peterborough with another game in hand, and could be promoted as early as Wednesday should Mansfield spring a surprise at Stockport.
But even if the Stags can't win at Edgeley Park, one more win would be enough for the men from MK to be playing League 1 football next season.
Having scored within three minutes of Friday's win at Lincoln, Ince's men were even quicker out of the blocks as Swailes opened the scoring on two minutes.
Lewington's free-kick came in from the right, Swailes pulled off his marker at the far post and jabbed the ball past Gavin Ward from close range.

Danny Swailes puts the Dons in front early on. |
Little had highlighted his team's vulnerability to set-pieces before the game and it served a massive set-back, but before they knew it, they were two down.
Jemal Johnson, in for the injured Colin Cameron, was given far to much space to turn on the left of the area and breezed past Phil Bolland.
His cutback was perfect, allowing Wilbraham to steer the ball past Ward from 14 yards without breaking stride.
It was almost as if Wrexham started the game again, forgot about the scoreline and set about just getting the next one. With five in defence and four across midfield, they had more than their fair share of possession but not often enough in areas where they could hurt the home side.

Jemal Johnson is blocked by Steve Evans. |
Dragons forward Stuart Nicholson's touch let him down when he was well-placed in the area before the visitors eventually fashioned a decent chance.
Marc Williams got the better for Swailes before angling a low shot across Willy Gueret, the Dons 'keeper nearly parrying straight into Nicholson's path on 27 minutes.
Nicholson crashed a 20-yard volley just wide shortly afterwards as the Dons failed to build on their lead before the break, Friday's sluggishness at Sincil Bank seemingly carrying forward.
Things didn't improve for the home side after the break as Wrexham continued to fight their corner and they finally got a break on 58 minutes.
Regan knew he was in trouble as soon as Roberts appeared in front of him as a long ball came in from the Wrexham right and it was with desperation that the Dons full-back pulled him down.
Roberts fought off Chris Llewellyn for the rights to take the penalty before rifling high into the top right corner.

Sean O'Hanlon rises to head in the Dons' third. |
It was like prodding a sleeping animal as the Dons set about regaining their two-goal lead, with Lloyd Dyer in particular hurting Wrexham with a series of rampant bursts down the left.
Mark Wright saw a wonderful, curling effort from long-range tipped over by Ward at full stretch before another Lewington set-piece saw the two-goal advantage restored with 15 minutes to go.
Again it was beautifully simple, but devastatingly effective as the full-back's delivery swung in to the far post from the right and O'Hanlon headed comprehensively past Ward.

Wilbraham brilliantly makes it four in injury time. |
There was still time for another as Wilbraham saved the best for last with a wonderful fourth.
Bursting onto substitute John Miles throughball from the left, the Dons striker threw an outrageous dummy to commit the advancing Ward before strolling round him and rolling into an empty net.
