HANDBALL REF!
Friday afternoon's football session at Woughton got off to a slightly unorthodox start with a game closer to basketball than the beautiful game.
Manager Roberto Di Matteo and assistant Eddie Newton were amused onlookers as fitness coach Ade Mafe took a brilliantly-entertaining warm-up in the second part of the day's double session.
The game of 'handball' saw some excellent handling skills, some lethal finishing and some downright hilarity as both teams tried to ensure victory by hook or by crook.
There were two clinical strikes from Sean O'Hanlon, some woodwork peppering from the returning Paul Mitchell and some bodyline defending by the fearless Dean Lewington.
The fun and games had a serious point though, as Ade tried to keep the emphasis on good movement and technique (with the finishes at least!)

After the warm-up, it was down to business as Eddie and Roberto took some further ball work and technique drills before the session finished with small-sided games.
Work continues on Saturday as the players prepare for Wednesday's final pre-season friendly against Watford at stadiummk.
